Shopps Privacy Policy

Effective 29 July 2026 · Last updated 6 September 2026

The short version

Shopps is built to keep your data on your device. It has no accounts, no login, and no servers we run that store your information.

The items you save, your notes, prices, receipts and settings live on your iPhone. They are not synced to iCloud. We don't see them, sell them, or share them.

When Shopps checks a price, your device connects directly to the store's own website. Nothing about your shopping is sent to us. The full detail is below.

1. Who we are

This app, Shopps ("Shopps", "the app"), is provided by NoorLyfe ("we", "us", "our"), located at Lyngbyvej 83A, 2100 Copenhagen Ø, Denmark. We are the controller responsible for the limited personal data described in this policy.

If you have any question about privacy, you can reach us at contact@noorlyfe.com.

2. Our core principle: on-device

Shopps is a "zero-backend" app. That means we do not operate servers that receive, store, or process your shopping data. There is no Shopps account to create and no password to set. Everything you do in the app is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database.

Because of this, for most of what you do in Shopps there is simply no personal data in our hands to access, disclose, or misuse. This is a deliberate design choice, and it shapes everything below.

3. What information Shopps handles

The following is created and kept on your device. We do not receive it:

  • Saved items: the links, titles, images, prices, currencies and store names for products you choose to save.
  • Your input: notes, pros and cons, tags, collections, categories, considering timers, budgets, and return or warranty deadlines you set.
  • Price history: price snapshots the app records over time for items you monitor, and any alerts generated from them.
  • Receipts: any receipt photos you attach, stored in the app's storage on your device.
  • Settings: your preferences, such as which items you monitor and notification choices.

We do not collect analytics, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking software development kits inside Shopps. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

4. Apple and payments

Subscriptions and payments

Shopps offers an optional paid subscription ("Pro"). All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card, bank details, or Apple ID. Apple provides us only with anonymised information needed to confirm whether a valid subscription exists, so the app can unlock Pro features on your device. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

No iCloud sync

CloudKit is not enabled. Your list stays on this iPhone. It does not sync through iCloud. To take a copy with you, use the export in Settings.

5. Retailer websites and price checks

When you save a product link or Shopps checks a price, your device connects directly to that retailer's public website and reads the publicly visible product information (such as the displayed price and availability). This connection is between your device and the store; it does not pass through us, and no information about you or your saved items is sent to us in the process.

Those retailer websites are operated by third parties with their own privacy practices, which we do not control. When your device contacts a store, that store may receive standard technical information any web request includes, such as your device's IP address. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of retailer websites. Shopps is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any retailer, and store names and logos belong to their respective owners.

6. Device permissions

Shopps asks for certain iOS permissions only when a feature needs them. You can change these at any time in your device Settings.

  • Notifications: to send you local reminders (return deadlines, price alerts, considering nudges). These are generated and delivered on your device.
  • Calendar: if you choose to add a deadline to your calendar, Shopps creates that event through Apple's calendar system on your device. Shopps does not read your other calendar entries.
  • Photos: if you attach a receipt or import a screenshot, you select the image yourself. Screenshot text recognition runs entirely on your device.
  • Clipboard: when you open the app, Shopps may check whether your clipboard contains a web link so it can offer to save it. It looks only for the presence of a link, never reads your clipboard silently in the background, and sends nothing anywhere.

7. How information is used

Information in Shopps is used only to make the app work for you on your device: to display and organise your saved items, monitor prices you asked it to watch, remind you of deadlines, calculate your insights, and unlock Pro features you have paid for. Because we do not receive this information, we do not use it for any other purpose.

Under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation, to the limited extent any processing involves us, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (providing the app and your subscription), your consent (for optional permissions you grant), and our legitimate interests (keeping the app secure and functioning). You may withdraw consent at any time by changing the relevant permission.

8. Sharing, selling and advertising

We do not sell your personal information. We do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use it for targeted advertising or to build advertising profiles, and Shopps contains no advertising.

We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own purposes. The only third parties involved in the app are Apple (for payments) and the retailer websites your device connects to at your direction, both described above. We may disclose information only where legally required, for example to comply with a valid legal request, but in practice we hold almost no data capable of being disclosed.

9. Retention and security

Your Shopps data is retained on your device for as long as you keep it there. You are in control: you can edit or delete any item at any time, export a copy, and deleting the app removes its on-device data from that device.

Because your data stays on your device, it is protected by your device passcode and device encryption. We maintain reasonable safeguards for the minimal, anonymised subscription information Apple makes available to us. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. Because Shopps keeps your data on your own device, you can exercise most of these rights directly, at any time, without contacting us: view your data by opening the app, correct it by editing an item, export it using the app's export feature, and delete it by removing items or deleting the app.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability, plus the right to withdraw consent and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To the limited extent we hold any personal data about you, contact us to exercise these rights. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you may also complain to your national supervisory authority.

United States (California and other states)

If you are a US resident in a state with a comprehensive privacy law — currently including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington — you may have the right to know or access the personal information a business holds about you, to delete it, to correct it, to obtain a portable copy, and to opt out of its sale, sharing, or use for targeted advertising and certain profiling. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights, and, in several states, the right to appeal a decision we make about your request.

We do not sell or share your personal information, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not profile you. Because your Shopps data is held on your device rather than by us, you can satisfy access, correction, portability and deletion requests yourself within the app, and you can contact us with any request you cannot complete this way.

Nevada

Nevada residents may direct us not to sell certain information. We do not sell your information, but you may still contact us to record your preference.

Canada, Australia, Brazil and elsewhere

If you are covered by Canada's PIPEDA, the Australian Privacy Principles, Brazil's LGPD, or a similar law, you may have comparable rights of access, correction and deletion. The on-device nature of Shopps lets you exercise these directly, and you may contact us for anything further.

We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframe your law requires and will not charge a fee unless permitted. You may use an authorised agent where your law allows.

11. Region-specific disclosures

California "Shine the Light"

We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, so there is nothing to report under California Civil Code section 1798.83.

Sensitive information

Shopps does not ask for or require sensitive personal information such as government identifiers, precise geolocation, health, or financial account data. Any content you choose to store in a note is under your control and stays on your device.

Universal opt-out signals

Some browsers and devices can send an automated opt-out preference signal. Because we do not sell or share personal information or serve targeted advertising, there is no such activity for a signal to stop; we honour the underlying preference by simply not engaging in it.

Financial incentives

We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.

12. Children

Shopps is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13, or under the higher age of digital consent that applies in your country (up to 16 in parts of the EU). If you believe a child has provided information in a way that reaches us, contact us and we will address it.

13. International use and transfers

Shopps is available internationally. Because your data is stored on your device, it generally stays where that device is. Any international transfer that occurs as part of Apple's App Store services is handled by Apple under its own safeguards and privacy terms. The minimal, anonymised subscription information available to us may be processed in the country where we operate; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for any such transfer.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves or the law changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice where appropriate. Your continued use of Shopps after an update means you accept the revised policy.
